The cover is for the comic, like the poster of a movie..

It’s the bait that traps the reader and invites to buy the magazine and which is one of the most important parts which we must “put all the cards on the table”. If we stay half of the way maybe that potential reader will pass it by and won’t buy it. We have to invite them with the clear promise they will enjoy a great story, it doesn’t matter what kind.

Focusing there exclusive conception from the artistic point of view is a mistake, the commercial factor is an essential condition, at least for the great editorials and those independent producers that search for an entrance in a highly competitive market.

From here we present frequently a typical drawing for the cover and a serious of sketches from where your started your development.

Later, if you wish to practice it, you can enter in the cover that you want to draw, select and print the first blank page with the guide lines. You can practice drawing with any of the three termination levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. Remember to sketch softly if you want to get to the finished drawing so you can erase the auxiliary lines and polish the traces.

You can also print the rest of the pages if it is more comfortable to work.

A good advice is using in your practices the RC Technique to obtain the major benefit in learning (you can study in The Explained Exercise classroom)

You can practice like you wish:

Making the basic sketch only (the mannequin) and follow later with the most structured sketch until doing, if you want to, the finished model. En every case you have drawn the different steps so you can evaluate the development of the exercise. When you’re done, if you desire to correct your work enter in Premium Zone and find out how to do it.

If your recently doing your first attempts in illustration, we suggest you pass through the first lessons and its corresponding Pages for Training before you decide to practice the covers and other more complex drawings.

Train with the mannequin all the time you can, it’s the best advice we can give you.
