Lesson 1 The key to the short story is the professional handle of figure drawing and faces. The character has to be capable of running, jumping, expressing and standing in a natural way. To achieve this it’s necessary to have a deep knowledge in this point and has to be taken with serious practice and being constant. You can’t loose time in useless efforts, in bad practices that won’t lead to anything. It isn’t enough to show somebody the technique about how to do what or which thing, it’s indispensable to indicate how you should practice these techniques and offer the necessary training material to obtain satisfied results in the less possible time. This is the intention of TRAINING FOR COMICS, taken from the self-taught illustrator’s point of view and eliminating everything that is useless and underlining what really works. It’s our intention –through years of experience- to get through candidates and convert them in professional illustrators with brief exercise practices for all levels trying to avoid unnecessary theories. Starting from basic for beginners and combining with exercises for intermediate levels and advanced. We will be adding week by week the most complete training material so you can unload it and give wings to your hand. It’s free, you don’t have hours, and you will have first level material and necessary technical support. Now if you add your wish and perseverance then you have half of the battle won. Later everything follows in your hands. It’s our most deep desire you form part of our community and become a professional of comics and illustration. So we welcome you to TRAINING FOR COMICS….. If you’re new at this we will show you these exercises to loosen your hand, they are regular graphics that will allow you to trust your pencil. Trace the lines with agility, don’t press the pencil a lot, and get used to this now to the soft trace. Imagine the pencil dancing on the paper (that’s the idea). Don’t work with little united lines, try to do it once without fear, with agility and decision…zas!
